Our 18-tonne sustainable Gen Tug Trucks for film and TV productions can power productions in multiple ways. Equipped with Mercedes Actros 18-tonne trucks, they feature a 30/60 Li-ion LFP Battery and a 100KVA Generator, updated for winter 2024. By combining HVO fuel and battery storage systems, productions can align with Sustainable Film and TV standards, with power usage monitored via an interface.
The customised Gen-Tug truck uses 20kW of green solar energy, fed into the battery during sunlight hours. During production, the battery supplies energy. For peak power demands, the 100KVA generator activates, backing up the production and charging the battery simultaneously. This hybrid setup reduces greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels, making it cost-effective by lowering fuel use. The hybrid system alone achieves a 66% reduction in generator runtime, with further savings from the 20kW solar power addition.
Performance of the generator and battery is monitored, renewable energy production tracked, and energy consumption patterns analyzed for optimization. Cost savings from reduced fuel use are calculated, and the generator can be remotely controlled. Additionally, the 18-tonne Mercedes Tug Truck doubles as a swing vehicle to move your base, reducing empty HGV miles and CO2 emissions.
